Surfer’s Life Thrown Into Limbo

Renowned world-class surfer Jen Heddle is always out of the water.

Her surfboard is a relic, plastered across her bedroom wall, its fine line shattered by a shark attack in Indonesia just weeks ago.

But Jennifer Heddle, 20, wasn’t the one playing the guitar or carrying a volleyball in her Arizona home.

Heddle, a University of Arizona student, was in Hawaii for a surf camp with the Jacksons for the week of the December attack. She spent months after the attack in the hospital, facing an uncertain future.

Heddle has earned scholarships to share her travel experience on-camera and is frequently asked to appear at surfer meet-and-greets.
