A World Cheese Summit will take place in 2021 at the largest indoor indoor exhibition space in the UK, in the Midlands.

Officials announced the summit will take place at the National Dairy Centre in Loughborough in the county from 27-30 April.

Current crop and Welsh artisan cheese experts will make up the summit’s steering committee.

It aims to “bring the best of the world’s cheese to the UK,” according to organisers.

The first UK summit was held in 2004 and the World Cheese Awards were established in 2006 as part of the summit to “raise the global profile of cheese”, according to organisers.

In addition to the summit, the North West International Cheese Summit will be held at the University of Liverpool in March 2017 and November 2015, alongside the annual Champion Cheese Award ceremony.

Luke Campbell, from the Model Cheese Manufacturers Association, who will also join the steering committee, said he was “beyond excited” about the event.

“Our personal plans for the summit are to sign a global partnership with their marketing team to bring together the world’s best cheeses for an even wider appeal,” he said.
